Dr. Art Hyzer believes that physical therapy is about far more than reducing pain. It's about helping people understand their bodies, regain confidence in movement, and return to the activities that matter most.
Art brings a unique blend of mechanical understanding, hands-on care, and patient education into every treatment session. Before becoming a physical therapist, he served in the United States Air Force, where he worked in mechanics and biomedical equipment repair. That experience taught him to look beyond symptoms and understand how every part of a system works together. Today, he approaches the human body with that same mindset, knowing that lasting results come from identifying the source of the problem rather than simply treating where it hurts.
After earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Jamestown, Art gained experience across a wide range of healthcare settings, including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient rehabilitation, hospital systems, skilled nursing facilities, and correctional healthcare. Working with patients of all ages and abilities has allowed him to develop a well-rounded approach to rehabilitation that is both practical and individualized.
What truly sets Art apart is the time he spends listening. Every patient has a different story, different goals, and different challenges. Rather than following the same plan for everyone, he believes treatment should be tailored to the individual sitting in front of him. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, dealing with chronic pain, struggling with balance, or simply trying to stay active as they age, his goal is to help them move with greater confidence and independence.
Patients often describe Art as calm, approachable, and encouraging. He enjoys teaching people how their bodies work, explaining why pain occurs, and providing exercises and strategies they can confidently continue at home. His philosophy is simple: the more you understand your body, the better equipped you are to care for it long after therapy ends.
At Hyerland Physical Therapy, Art has created the kind of clinic he always envisioned, one where patients are never rushed, questions are always welcomed, and every person is treated with the same respect and compassion he would want for his own family.

Hyerland Physical Therapy was built on more than a passion for rehabilitation. It was built on family, faith, and a commitment to serving the community that has shaped generations of the Hyzer family.
The name Hyerland comes from the Hyzer family farm, which has remained in the family for more than a century. That legacy represents hard work, integrity, and taking care of your neighbors, values that continue to guide everything we do today.
As lifelong members of the Reedsburg area, Art and his family understand the importance of caring for the people who make this community special. Whether you're recovering from surgery, returning to work, preparing for a new adventure, or simply hoping to move with less pain, you'll find a welcoming environment where you're treated like a neighbor, not just another appointment.
Our mission is simple: provide compassionate, personalized care that helps people move through life with greater confidence, independence, and lasting health.

Movement is Medicine. Education is Empowerment.
At Hyerland Physical Therapy, we believe healing is about more than reducing pain. It's about restoring confidence, improving movement, and helping people understand how their bodies work.
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all treatment plans or simply chasing symptoms. Every person who walks through our doors has a unique story, and every plan of care is built around their individual goals, lifestyle, and needs.
Our approach combines hands-on treatment, movement-based rehabilitation, patient education, and practical strategies you can continue using long after your therapy sessions end.
We measure success not only by how you feel today, but by giving you the knowledge and tools to stay active, independent, and moving well for years to come.
Because our goal isn't just helping you recover. It's helping you thrive.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, dealing with persistent pain, looking to improve your balance, or hoping to return to the activities you love, we're here to help.
Let's work together to create a plan that helps you move with confidence again.
